Copyright Amendment Bill

In December 2006, the Copyright (New Technologies and Performers’ Rights) Amendment Bill was introduced to Parliament.

A period of public consultation followed. Several dozen submissions were received and the Bill went to Select Committee stage in mid-2007.

In April 2008, the Bill was passed. A copy of the Bill can be found at the following link:

InternetNZ Position

InternetNZ regards the Copyright (New Technologies) Amendment Act as a flawed law that fails to fully grasp the nature of "new technologies", such as the Internet and digital media.
