InternetNZ collects only the following information from visitors to our website:

  • Referring Site IP addresses. These are collected for statistical analysis only and are deleted after one year.

  • Which pages are visited most often and what major search topics are entered are tracked in order to determine the best information to carry on the website for your assistance. These records carry no personal identifying information.

Any other information collected from visitors is clearly marked as to purpose and will only be used for the purpose collected. At present the only information collected is:

Online Membership Subscription Pages

Information on these pages is submitted by intending members of InternetNZ. Information is encrypted in transit and is used only to provide membership services and is not provided to any third party unless required by law to do so.

Online Democracy Activities

Periodically InternetNZ conducts a variety of online democracy activities, and in each instance a statement of what information is collected, for what purpose, and how long it is kept, is stated. Examples are:

  • Online voting by members of InternetNZ: secure ID (passwords and logins) to verify that voters are financial members of InternetNZ; record of votes; material deleted by Voting Officers after vote is completed and result announced. Amalgamated, non-identifiable, results are usually retained and displayed on the website.

  • Online polls of members and public: no login and password required; usually a requirement to provide email address and/or physical address for authentication; record of votes; material deleted by Voting Officers after vote is completed and result announced. Amalgamated, non-identifiable, results are usually retained and displayed on the website.

  • Online consultations - various Stakeholder groups:

    • Surveys: may be anonymous or may be requirement to provide email address and/or physical address for authentication; record of comments; raw material deleted by Executive Director after consultation is completed and result announced. Amalgamated, non-identifiable, results are usually retained and displayed on the website.

    • Mailing Lists: for discussion of specific topics. Requires valid email address to participate. Archives may be available to public. (For further information see Society Documents Policy)

    • Submissions: Must be submitted with Name and Contact details. Submissions retained and displayed on website
