Project Description:
The purpose of this project is to fund activities related to persuading political parties to adopt ambitious fibre plans in their election manifestos, and to hold an election year debate between ICT spokespeople as was done in 2005.
Project Budget:
$130,000 has been budgeted for the Broadband / Fibre Campaign project in 2008/09.
Overall Progress Summary (November 2008):
InternetNZ commissioned Network Strategies, an Auckland-based consultancy, to do the research set out in the RFP that was issued in June 2008. After Stage 1 of the work was delivered, agreement was reached to proceed with Stage 2. A draft version of the report is expected by early November.
In related activity, following the Internet Leaders Debate, InternetNZ commissioned a survey of political parties seeking details of their election year manifestos on ICT issues.
