Industry Best Practice Programme

(Links to Strategy 3: Technical Development and Innovation)

Project Sponsor: Jamie Baddeley

Staff Support: Campbell Gardiner

Project Status: Active Smiley Smiley

Project Description:

InternetNZ proposes establishing an Industry Best Practice Programme to develop technical standards that further the security and stability of the Internet in New Zealand.

Project Budget:

$40,000 has been budgeted for the Industry Best Practice Programme in 2008/09.

Overall Progress Summary:

The Industry Best Practice project is still being initiated. The 'vision' for the programme is as follows:

Best practice documents detailing industry-accepted practices and processes would be written. Documents would relate to delivery of Internet services/technology in New Zealand.

Documents could be used to form flexible codes of practice in the Internet area, or to form a body of knowledge for future generations of Internet enablers in NZ to leverage and refer to.

The technical community (NZNOG) has reacted enthusiastically to the  idea of having a Best Practice Programme.
